Yoga is a huge passion of mine; having been in my life since the age of 19, it has been a constant friend, guiding me through 3 pregnancies and still by my side as I move through my fifties. I have been practising yoga since 1987 and teaching yoga since 2001.
I completed my yoga teacher training with Jenny Beeken and the Inner Yoga Trust in England. The IYT is one of the UK’s leading bodies for ‘Scaravelli’ inspired yoga teacher training. I then went on to gain my British Wheel of Yoga accreditation. In recent years I have been greatly influenced by the teachings of Peter Blackaby and Gary Carter who both have a wealth of experience & expertise in the Scaravelli inspired tradition of Yoga.
“Yoga is an effortless dance with breath & gravity.” Vanda Scaravelli.
In order to maintain my teaching qualification and for my own personnel development I have over the years attended on-going training in different aspects of teaching. These have included back pain, children’s yoga, pregnancy yoga and anatomy & physiology.
In 2008 I qualified as a Traditional Thai Yoga massage therapist; this has given me further insight and understanding of how the body moves.
I have taught many yoga retreats, holidays and workshops in the UK, France and Corfu and Yoga days in NZ.
Yoga can give us a positive, relaxed approach to everyday life and an overall sense of wellbeing. As our bodies begin to show the signs of daily wear and tear, yoga can be the ideal tool. Low impact and non-competitive, invigorating rather than exhausting, Yoga is a truly holistic discipline involving the mind, body and spirit, the ancient discipline of yoga can be practised at any time of life.
